Grants of up to $10,000 to Canada PreK-12 public schools to enhance school meal programs throughout the country. The purpose of the program is to assist schools that operate existing meal programs in providing a range of tasty, high-quality meals with increased nutritional value. Funding is intended for the purchase of food and consumable supplies for daily school food programs.

Program requirements

Since this is a program, not a grant, participating schools are required to deliver the complete Power Full Kids | Eat Well program to students, which includes:

  • Power Full Kids activities incorporated into meal time
  • Power Full Kids meal planning tools used to maximize food budgets
  • 20 cents per child per day to contribute the cost of food, up to $10,000
  • Meals delivered universally to your student population, on school property, 4 days per week, 36 weeks per year, or 144 days total
  • Meals containing at least 1 serving of fruits or vegetables, plus 1 serving of whole grain or protein per day, based on Canada’s Food Guide and/or Canada’s Food Guide for First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To participate in the Power Full Kids | Eat Well program, schools must:

- Be a Canadian public school (including First Nation, Inuit and Métis Nation operated schools)
- Serve children and/or youth between junior kindergarten and the last year of high school, up to 18 years of age
- Publicize your participation in the Power Full Kids | Eat Well program
- When prompted, complete an Annual Report with the details of your program expenses, participation and testimonials. Failure to complete an Annual Report for any Power Full Kids program may impact future participation

- Approval notifications: June 30, 2022
- EFT disbursement: September 7, 2022
- EFT receipt confirmation due : September 30, 2022

New this year, program funding will be disbursed by EFT directly into your school’s bank account.
